Windmills
Designed and produced by the UK CoI
The main aim underlying the design of this c-book unit is to facilitate students to identify, explore and use mathematical concepts and relations behind the construction and operation of Windmills. The underlying narrative from ‘Windmills II’ concerning Don Quixote, a c-book created by the Greek CoI, was retained, as was the mix of ‘constructionist’ and ‘deconstructionist’ activities. As emphasised further down the Annex the biggest changes from the previous version concerned layout, feedback and scaffolding. The c-book follows the narrative of Don Quixote and, like the original Windmills II, follows five parts:
- Don Quixote and the windmills
- There’s a strong wind…
- Windmills and constructions
- Charge and build
- Don Quixote’s windmill is operational! (6 pages)
