Rearth Chap X - Settling home
Designed and produced by the French CoI
The Rearth Chap X presents a set of problems from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) book called Earth Math found on http://spacemath.gsfc.nasa.gov. The aim of this c-book unit is to contextualize the background fictional history of the Rearth game using mathematics demonstrating its applications in the scenario.
Bicycle
Designed and produced by the French CoI
A series of videos is analyzed in order to understand the linear relationship between the gear shifts and the ratio between the pedal and the wheel rotations. A virtual bike allows to experiment more easily and answer to the problem “why is my back full of mud?”.
Elementary algebra
Designed and produced by the French CoI
The c-book unit aims at developing the students’ algebraic thinking through problems asking for pattern generalization, working with calculation programs or solving equations. A large variety of interactive widgets provides the students with opportunities to visualize abstract algebraic concepts, check conjectures, make connections between numerical and geometric representations of algebraic concepts and work collaboratively.
The Sustainable City
This c-book was designed by 7 members of Greek CoI from diverse domains (mathematicians, primary school teachers, environmental educators).
