The metropontikas
The narrative of the c-book ‘The metropontikas’ refers to a fantastic city that is inhabited by geometric figures and solids. This c-book aims at provoking innovative learning trajectories and practices capitalising upon the representations and functionalities available in the c-book technology (half-baked logo code, data, kinesthetic control of variables, interlinked representations, simulations, interactivity etc.) The knowledge to be approached is embedded in the various widget instances and the students can discover it through exploration and experimentation.
Staircases
The “Staircases” c-book was created by 5 members of Greek CoI (3 mathematicians, 2 primary school teachers). The idea that inspired the designers was the design of an environmental campaign in the math department of the University of Athens, named “Take the stairs”.
Castles
This c-book was created by 7 members of Greek CoI, most of them being mathematicians.
“Castles” is an introduction to engineering problems around the design of castles. It starts like a naïve bed-time story but it grows fast to complex mathematical modeling.
Cycling in the park
The “Cycling in the park” c-book was created by 9 members of the Greek CoI. The aim of this c-book is to engage primary school students with mathematical concepts such as space visualization, measurements and data, proportional relationships and geometrical properties of 2d and 3d shapes.
